How to create hotspot in Windows 10 laptop WiFi
When your laptop is connected with wired adapter and Internet active only on your laptop and you want to share the Internet connection by laptop to another devices like mobile or laptop. This guide I will open the command prompt with administrator permission so you must Run CMD as administrator to do this
- Press Windows key + x keyboard shortcut and click on command prompt (admin).
Verify you are wireless adapter supports hosted network in Windows 10
While you are going to create WiFi hotspot you will first need to verify your laptop physical wireless adapter has this feature or not. you can do that by using following commands
netsh wlan show drivers
If you will get the output hosted network supported: yes then you can create WiFi Hotspot on your laptop and you could proceed for the next step.
How to create hotspot in Windows 10 – step by step
Creating the WiFi Hotspot in Windows 10 is quite easy, you just need to run the following commands. but make sure your command prompt as administrator permission
netsh wlan set hostednetwok mode=allow ssid=Desired_Name key=Your_Password
Windows command SSID would be the name of access point identification of your hotspot and the key I would be a security key you want to use the time of the connect with this hotspot whenever you set the password keep in mind about the strong password policy.
Once you have created a wifi hotspot you need to start hosted network by running the following command
netsh wlan start hostednetwork
Share Internet connection with WiFi hotspot hosted network
Till now, you have created the hotspot in your Windows 10 you can see this hotspot by using any wireless device like Mobile and connect with it by using your security key but still you cannot use the Internet connection on your mobile device until you will not share Internet connection with WiFi hotspot weather the physical adapter so follow the steps:
- Use of Windows key + axe on keyboard shortcuts and select network connections.
- I right click on the network adapter you are running Internet connection and click on properties.
- Click on the sharing Tab on the top
- Check on the allow network users to connect through this computer’s Internet connection option
- Next select the Microsoft hosted virtual adapter looks like the image
from the home networking connection drop down menu
- Click ok to finish
Now you have shared the Internet connection you should be able to connect with another wireless device and to check for the Internet connection.
How to stop hosted network in Windows 10
If you want to stop the WiFi hotspot for other devices then you can open the command prompt with system administrator and run following commands
netsh wlan stop hostednetwork
that anytime if you want to start again Wi-Fi hotspot you can run the simple commands used before and this time you don’t need to share Internet connection again if you will not able to access the Internet connection on the wireless device then you can easily share the Internet connection.
Run the following commands to enable and disable wireless hosted network:
netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow
netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=disallow
How to change WiFi Hotspot settings in window 10
If you are serious about security of WiFi hotspot and you want to change the name and password of hotspot, then you can use of following commands to set the new SSID and password for hosted network.
netsh wlan set hostednetwork ssid=New_SSID
netsh wlan set hsotednetwork key=New_Password

netsh wlan show hostednetwork
netsh wlan show hostednetwork setting=security
How to completely delete hosted network settings in Windows 10
You have learned, it is very easy to creating the WiFi hotspot inw windows 10, but it is very complicated to remove the configuration from your computer completely. if you don’t have need of this feature anymore and want delete premanently hosted network settings from your laptop, then this section of article is very important for you.
You have the commands to stop disallow no hosted network the settings of the hosted network remain in your computer as well so if you want to completely delete the hosted network settings and Windows 10 then you will have to make the changes in registry.
Important notes: if you are going to modify the registry it is highly recommended to make the full backup of your system or create system restore point. it is a warning for you.
- Press the windows key + r on the keyboard shortcuts and hit enter.
- The user access control will be popup
- Go on the path HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\system\currentcontrolset\services\wlansvc\parameters\hostednetworksettings.
- Right click on hostednetworksettings in right pane and select Delete.
- When you delete the value it will ask for the confirmation so click on the yes and you will see no more hosted network settings are exist.
- Reboot the computer
- And check the settings of hosted network by using following commands.
